नव वर्ष एक उत्सव की तरह पूरे विश्व में अलग अलग स्थानों पर अलग अलग विधियों से मनाया जाता है । विभिन्न सम्प्रदायों के नववर्ष भिन्न होते हैं और इसके महत्व की भी विभिन्न संस्कृतियों में परस्पर भिन्नता है । ज्य़ादातर देशों मैं नववर्ष 31 दिसम्बर को 12 बजे के बाद 1 जनवरी को मनाते है I भारत में भी नववर्ष 1 जनवरी को मनाया जाता है पर हिन्दू शास्त्रों के अनुसार नववर्ष मार्च अप्रैल के बीच में पड़ता है I 1 जनवरी का नववर्ष अंग्रेज़ी कैलेण्डर के अनुसार मनाया जाता है I हर धर्म के अपने अपने कैलेंडर हैं पर ज्यादातर देश अंग्रेजी कैलेंडर के अनुसार ही नववर्ष मनाते हैं I चीनी फरवरी में नववर्ष मनाते हैं I भारत में भी नववर्ष अलग अलग तिथियों को मनाया जाता है I 31 दिसम्बर को 12 बजे के बाद लोग आतिशबाजियां करते हैं और एक दूसरे को बधाइयाँ देते हैं I लोग इस दिन बहुत खुशियां मनाते है I नव वर्ष के उत्सव को मनाने के लिए लोग काफी पहले से तैयारियों में जुट जाते हैं। 31 दिसंबर को रात्रि में 12 बजते ही नव वर्ष का आगमन हो जाता है। लोग आतिशबाजी छुड़ाकर खुशी का इजहार करते हैं तथा एक-दूसरे को नव वर
